View Full Version : license
I am based in Nigeria. Do i need to purchase a license for my ubnt radios like nanostation, powerstation in order for my signal strength to have better penetrating power? or do i need to load any file onto the radio besides the firmware from your website to have the radio working well?
Please i need answers to this
Thanks

Ubiquiti products are the same for all countries.
To select the country (and therefore the valid
frequencies), or to change the rf output, use the
settings in the Web control panel 'Wireless' tab.
For any particular country, it is your responsibility
to verify that the radio frequency and output
power meet local regulations.
For best results, always use the latest firmware.
If you use AirOS based products, only the firmware
on the Ubiquiti Website is available. No separate
license is required.
Your 'penetrating power' (I suppose you mean
signal strength) depends on the rf ouput power,
the antenna and your terrain or buildings. Dave
Thanks Dave for you response, but in the list of countries in the radios like nanostation, my country Nigeria is not listed, so how do i set the frequencies?

Of course, Nigeria is a very small market.
Ubiquiti can't list every single country;
they picked the more common ones.
You need to research your own laws
to discover which bands and frequencies
and which operating modes are permitted.
These laws vary widely between nations
and can be very restrictive.
On the other hand, I hardly imagine any
entity in Nigeria is searching the airwaves. Dave

put your country to "compliance test"
and you have all the available channels.
