Since the Bullet2 HP's are on back order forever, we are in desperate need of a high-power 2.4ghz outdoor unit, to replace a few Bullet2 HP's for customers that had a surge come through and blow out the LAN port. Could one just buy a Bullet M2HP and lock it in on B-only and still get he high-power performance? The only difference I see is 1db less in TX power right? Thanks for any info, I've never used the 2.4ghz version of M.

Can't lock them in b mode.
They also seem to disassociate from the 802.11b AP's and sometimes not re-associate. Only work around i've found is to set the AP to b/g mode if supported. Then the B2M seems to stay associated. Some of my AP's are only meant to stay at 802.11b though.
Best solution at this time is to use a bullet2 and a higher gain antenna, or another CPE.
I never tried ping watchdog though, that might help... but I think you'd still run into some issues. I was changing the channel on the 802.11b AP, and the B2M would not reassociate until it was power cycled. Once I switched the AP to b/g mode, it started reassociating.

I might be seeing a related issue. I'm using a Bullet M2HP to connect to municipal wifi. Sometimes the connection just drops, and I can't get an encryption key to show up in iwconfig, even after a reboot. A few hours later, I can get on just fine.
The ISP is poking around its logs, hoping to find someone, but one theory I had was that a B adapter (or an adapter in B mode) associated with the AP and caused me to lose a connection.
I'd actually like to get an official statement on what's supposed to happen if something drops to B mode.

Hello,
At this time we do not officially support 802.11abg modes with the M series. Full 802.11 compatibily will be released in V5.1 of AirOS
Thanks,
Mike

So in other words using them with legacy equipment is useless at the moment?
And of course all other 2.4 units are on the boat, on fire, lost, who knows where?
So basically what you're saying is M works with M... and legacy works with legacy, but they don't work together, like was said before...
I ask this because I've already deployed some M access points, and have started loading legacy Nanos onto it (Only because we can't actually get real 2.4M Nanos)... And they work like **** at the moment (Only 1meg RX, even though TX maxes out... 100% CCQ).
Where's this boat???
Hello,
As stated many times all over this forum, the 2.4Ghz M series have not shipped. We released the 5Ghz first, witch are arriving to distributors (some even have recieved them already). The 2Ghz will be released in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks,
MIke

Your other option right now is Powerstations 2's, Nano 2's, or Pico 2HP's.

I think Powerstation 2's aren't an issue. Beyond that, I can't tell you.

I also need legacy support. I only have 2 out now with problems because I did not read the details. Please if there can be a service release with abg support then put it out. I'd hate to downgrade them and go back a third time to upgrade them again.

Mike i have 40 Bullet M2HP in my stock for my WISP customers, so i think UBNT should to work overtime to get full compatibility, you cant compare Bullet 2MHP to Bullet 2HP due , Bullet M2HP has a 400 mhz CPU and the Bullet 2HP just 180 mhz.
Ubiquiti is going up, but try to avoid these problems, that remember me that time when all WiFi people had to use Dlink...
