This belongs in the RouterStation forum (http://www.ubnt.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23) (which is under the Ubiquiti Embedded System and Mini-PCI based Products (http://www.ubnt.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33) category). Having said that, it sounds like your netmask is set incorrectly on your RouterStation...

If you can ping 192.168.1.20 (the RS device) from 192.168.1.2 but not 192.168.1.84 it is likely that your netmask is something other than 255.255.255.0 (probably 255.255.255.128 or something similar). Did you change it?

Also, have you tried using SSH to get into the device? I think telnet is disabled on the pre-installed image (telnet is *bad*). For reference, the default user/password is root/ubnt... So just set your PC's IP to 192.168.1.2 (the one you know works from your ping results) and then SSH in: "ssh root@192.168.1.20" and use password, "ubnt".

For reference, the RouterStation setup guide is here (http://wiki.ubnt.com/wiki/index.php/RouterStation_OpenWRT_SW_Setup_Guide).

To connect to your RouterStation through SSH you need an SSH program. If you're in Windows that's likely going to be Putty (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html). If you're using Linux just type "ssh root@192.168.1.20" into a terminal and enter your password at the prompt.

HOWEVER, I should mention that I had a similar problem with my RouterStation once after I flashed it with a custom firmware. After pulling my hair out for a while I just reflashed it (with the same firmware) and everything started working properly. So it could just be a bad flash (wouldn't be the first time I've experienced such a problem with embedded systems).

Also, I've seen similar problems to this with bad power supplies or bad/too long ethernet cables (when using PoE). The first power supply I used with my RouterStation was a cheap Chinese-made hunk of junk and I had all sorts of strange application crashes until I switched to a Ubiquiti POE-15.

Let me tell you I had the same trouble when I first received my RS-Pro...
Simply couldn't login, telnet, SSH (putty), linux terminal nothing worked till I flashed with trunk image.

Strange no?
