Hello, I have a link of 5.6 km (3.5 miles) with two Bullet M2 and two antennas grid of 22.5 dbi, the signal is good (approx -70dBm), but sometimes went dead for about 10 seconds.
Also sometimes the ping (from a computer on one end to another computer on the other end of the link) increases significantly on 2000, 3000 or 4000ms, being the normal value of 3 or 4ms.
Why can this happen and how to solve?
Greetings
PS: Attached pictures of the configuration of the two AP.

Turn off AutoACK, set your miles to 3.9 and see if that fixes the problem.

Hello, I tried what I indicated, but continues with the same problems of rising tennis courts and casual.
By establishing 3.9 miles if the actual distance is 3.5 miles?
All other settings are correct for my application?
Greetings.

Hi, the firmware is the one that came as standard, that version is not as it only indicates V5.0
AirMax I got off, because when estube testing (both AP together, about 5 feet away), the AirMax enabled performance was very low.

Http://www.ubnt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13160 In this post I read that you had problems with the firmware upgrade, so I did not want to upgrade.
In the second post (http://www.ubnt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13195) understand that enabled performance AirMax is much lower, and the tests I performed were similar, with more functions activated AirMax slow.
When there are cuts in the log appear the following messages:

I updated the AP2, it seems that is the disconnect as can be seen in the LOG (can someone confirm?).
It works quickly and antenna alignment tool that earlier did not work.
I hope this resolves the cuts.
When I can actualizare the AP1, as I prefer to update via cable connection instead of wifi and now I can not access the place where the AP1.

Now the problem is greater.
The link is less stable, more times and also cut the monent with a high ping are also higher.
And the biggest problem is that sometimes disconnects and reconnects not by itself, I have to reset the AP to work again.

Hello,
have you tried to change channel, channel width, enable channel shifting?
From device 00156DDC36B1 dmesg output, looks like this AP is running in busy environment. It can be a cause of your issues.
Some lines from dmesg output indicating busy environment:

Probably not related to PPPoE. Like Edmundas said, this seems to be related to interferance or other traffic on the channel. Can you change frequency or use channel shifting like he suggested ?
My English level is very low and use the google translator, so I do not understand some things.
Do you speak Spanish ? Si el foro permite, yo puedo ayuda un poco mas si el idioma es la problema.

Hello, I have made different tests with different channels, with and without changing the channel and with different channel bandwidth and simpre same thing happens, sometimes the connection is cut.
I've noticed that if the link has no traffic just cuts occur, but if traffic is high (viewing video IP camera MJPEG) cuts are continuous.

You did tests with the latest firmware v5.0.2-rc2(3) or with the preloaded v5.0?
I do recommend to use the latest available software, because we always do some changes to improve link stability and are included bugfixes. Also please do test with enabled AirMax.

I had similar issue. It was due to close by 2watt 2.4 Amplifier. Moving the antenna with the M2 atleast 15f away from it fixed this problem.

The problem persists.
I tried all the firmware RC that have emerged so far.
Interference believe there can be.
The AP1 is in a very small town, hardly any other wifi network and my AP is on a different channel to the other neighbors wifi.
The AP2 is in the field, without any wifi network can interfere.
mjnavapo
10-04-2009, 09:15 AM
If no data is transferred on the network, or they are very small, the AP establishes a connection with 150/150Mbps of CCQ 100%, no cuts occur.
If any large file transfers them, with a high transfer rate (about 3MB / s) the AP establishes a connection with 108/108Mbps CCQ 80/90%, but sometimes the CCQ drops below 1% and when connection outages occur and this often happens when the transfer rate is high.
You know that you can be?
rconaway
10-04-2009, 10:26 AM
Do the transfer and watch the CPU. I have noticed that as CPU goes up, and how much it goes up depends on traffic, link quaility goes down. Video traffic using UDP is extremely hard on the processor. I think this will get better as the firmware gets tweaked.
rconaway

I don't know about the firmware not having more places to improve. I should think that specific routines could create priority paths for specific types of traffic.

I made another test:
I put the AP mode BulletM2
I went with my laptop to an area in front of the antenna, 1.7 kilometers away and I connected to AP with the laptop internal WiFi.
54/54Mbps connection is established. With 100% CCQ. And ping 3/4ms.
Transfer a file, and the average speed of 1.99 MB / s constant for nearly 10 minutes.
And suddenly, without touching anything, the CCQ down to 1%.
The connection is set to 1Mbps.
The ping goes up to 300/400ms
I think it's for the same reason that disconnects when using the two BulletM2 connected in WDS mode.
What happens is that when this happens on both WDS, cut the connection and reconnects with its correct speed.
But with the notebook, not disconnected, remained at 1Mbps, until I manually disconnected and reconnected and I was again at 54Mbps.

Ubiquity would say, the M series doesn't officially support a/b/g which your internal wifi card probably utilizes.

Greetings.
Since we speak different languages, I'll try to keep it simple. We have had similar issues with many different products, not just Ubiquiti.
First reset the radio, restore the original firmware. Set the link up and test. If it is no better.....
Second, M Series or not, NLOS situations are bad for wireless at 2.4 GHZ. I never can tell until the link is up whether it will work or not in a NLOS situation. I have a couple links that fit this bill, most work, but I've been chasing a similar issue with a Bullet M2 link. Try to get this done as a clear shot if possible. If not possible......
Try taking and removing any wireless encryption. Make an open link with no security. Disable Airmax. Set wireless speed to auto if it is not. Auto-ack has always worked for us, but set it manually.
Test your link now. If you still have issues. Reset the radios to defaults, set the link up, try again. If you still have issues....
Check the physical things such as cables and power. We have had a cable that wasn't crimped just right do something similar. Radio would not reboot, but it would randomly disconnect. Check those cables.
How long of a cable run do the radios have? Cables over 200 feet give us random problems like this too.
Anyway, just some things we have seen in the field.
Howard

I looked at your configuration pictures and see several things you could change.
1) Do not check the the Adjust Automatic box. Use a distance of 4 miles.
2) Use 20 MHz Channel Width.
3) Reduce Power Output from 28 dBm to 26 dBm.
If you still have problems,
4) Try a lower data speed instead of Best.

i have solved this issue by going to a different channel. one that airview indicated low interference.
If AirView showed interference that the Site Survey didn't, it means either the inference is caused by a channel shifted AP that usually won't show up or by other close by CPE radios (the "hidden node" problem).

Piniongear thank you very much for your help.
I think I have located the problem and the AP1
If I have a maximum power (28db) cuts occur, by limiting the speed of data transfer "Traffic Shaping" (Unmodified power) are no longer produced cuts.
If low power (eg 20db) hardly any cutting occurs, the link is stable, without restricting traffic.
Before the maximum power is produced continuous cuts and long duration, producing a loss of ping.
At lower the power, if there is any cut (only occasionally) is very short, connected quickly, with little loss of ping.
What do you think is the problem? Sera feeding?
The AP has a Cat5e UTP cable about 20 meters with POE-15, so in theory they should not have problems feeding.
Greetings

10-23-2009, 05:36 AM
I changed the power supply POE-15 for a new, I changed the UTP network cable with a new one from 65ft (20m) and outages are still occurring, so no problem feeding.

Associate an image with the configuration of the two AP.
The key to both is the same AP
If the key was different not establish the connection at any time right?
The link works, only occasionally cut a few seconds.

mjnavapo, I have had this exact same issue but using Bullet2HP and Nano2. Bullet was being used as a repeater servicing a small valley of 7 other subscribers. Everyone of them were LOS from the repeater. I had one which the CCQ would drop to 3-4% every few seconds. Both from the client and AP perspective.
I had to:
- find the lowest possible channel available that was at least two channels from anything else for the AP. For this I had to reconfigure some folks wifi for them
- turn the power to absolute minimum on every unit including the AP
- cap the data rate at this one home to 2Mbs
Basically what WHT suggested. What really was the "kicker" was after we messed with it for a few weeks and finally got it working, he informed us that a local radio station told him he was in a "whitezone" (aka, could not receive certain signals). While he does have DTV, they cannot get HD DTV. Also, HughesNet and WildBlue could never get him a signal.
I watch the link from time to time and it still drops below 50% but nothing like before

I think it's a hardware failure or firmware
Between AP1 and AP2 is nothing there, only one field.
AP1 is in a very small town, I doubt that anything that will cause interference.
Before the UBNT have had some third-party AP and worked well.
The connection is working properly, until it is cut suddenly. Sometimes it connects automatically, but others have to restart the AP1 (WDS station) to reconnect.
I tried to disable encryption because when cut gives fault key, but also unencrypted producing the same courts, although in this case where no message is LOG.

For several days I am talking about this problem. do not worry, I suppose they are in it. ack problem probably is but clearly there is some firmware. are several people that have similar problems to yours and is the same reason. not mind having obstacles or have perfect vision, it is the same, if irrelevantly cut and packets are lost, get stuck without lan but instead ap is connected to the ethernet connected by wireless remote. It is the better one problem we have so far.

If I'm not really a unique case and it is happening to more people, there is no solution because after so long with the problem?

I think it's a hardware failure or firmware
Between AP1 and AP2 is nothing there, only one field.
AP1 is in a very small town, I doubt that anything that will cause interference.
Before the UBNT have had some third-party AP and worked well.
The connection is working properly, until it is cut suddenly. Sometimes it connects automatically, but others have to restart the AP1 (WDS station) to reconnect.
I tried to disable encryption because when cut gives fault key, but also unencrypted producing the same courts, although in this case where no message is LOG.
Are you using AirMax on or off? Also please send Support info files from both devices to edmundas@ubnt.com including link to this forum post.

Looks like your AP is working in interfering environment...
Please change channel width to 20MHz and disable channel shifting. Then do Site Survey on AP device and send results to me.
