Hi,

I'm evaluating an SR71-A card in a mini-ITX motherboard. Whilst I'm aware that Ubiquiti doesn't provide any Linux support, I wonder if anyone else on this board has had any luck with the card.

Using the ath9k drivers in one of the latest kernel releases (2.6.30.4) I can connect to an AP and send / receive data. After a while though (I've never managed to transfer more than 150MB) the connection to the AP is dropped with the syslog error "no probe response from AP <AP address> - disassociating".

I'm currently waiting on some other 802.11n hardware to test with, so am connecting to an 802.11g network with a single antenna.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it just that the ath9k driver isn't stable enough yet?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

I have tested the ath9k driver before. It is not stable yet and you may found many issues on this. If you really do want to use ath9k, you need to patient.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've tried the card in a few other PCs. The card fails in both AMD Geode systems I have but works in the Core 2 Duo system.

It looks like the card and the Geode chipset (CS5536) have an incompatibility together.

The only other option I considered is that both Geode boards are low power systems. Is it possible the SR-71A is drawing more current than these boards can provide?

Thanks,
Tom

Please do a "dmesg" in your Linux system. At least, you need to figure out whether the driver can detect the wifi card before concluding anythings.

Well, I would advise to stay away from the SR71 line of products: if you look in the support/download section you will see that no firmware is listed. It doesn't look like Ubiquiti is putting a lot of efforts in supporting these products (the Airmax product line replaced the LS-SR71 but unfortunately there is no mini-PCI module).

Yes, I agree. There will be no support SR71 line of products from Ubiquiti. The only source of support is from ath9k.
