ooh, a $79 loco!

i'm guessing the external antenna port has been sacrificed (understandably) for the extra ethernet port. for some applications i'd prefer to use grid's or dishes for cpe's.... is there going to be a ubnt branded dual-pol 2.4ghz grid/dish for use with the rockets?

Hey Guys,

The Nano M's do not have an external antenna connector as well.

Thanks,

Mike

and re: 2.4ghz dual-pol antennas? the panel's in the nano's only get me so far with so much performance before i need narrower beamwidth's achievable typically with gridpacks...

Hello,

This is what the Rocket M's and Grids are for.

Thanks,

Mike

Any idea when the 2.4 specs will be released? I'm concerned about the dish solution for long shots as well, will complicate the install, the PS's have been good radios for us, and we use a lot in our situation. We need a rocket with a built in antenna solution, not external only.

The rockets mount directly to our dish, so all you have to worry about it the mounting of the dish itself.

Thanks,

Mike

I get that they snap in, the Dish will probably be 24db Imagine with 2.4, hopefully still at 2 foot. I'm saying it will be more difficult to install, much of the expense with these things is the install. What I was suggesting was an all in one unit Rocket to replace the PS2, one that doesn't require a round 2" dish to be mounted on a persons roof.

Good things come to those that wait.

Hey mike,

Can u tell me what the frequency range or ranges for the rocket M? 5.4 5.8? also wat is the power of it? Is there like a high power one like BHP r just the one with a standard power? I need this to determine whether we can use this for a long range connectivity.. Also if we configure rocket as an AP wud it support bullet, ns M or regular?

If you use the Rocket with any other than another AirMax radio, then all the advantages of the Rocket are lost, use a regular Bullet or Powerstation.

Frequency ranges is just like all the other UBNT WISP products. The TPO is in the spec PDF.

Hello,

The units wil operate from 5.1Ghz to 6.0Ghz. The TPO is in the data sheets at this time. Also when using the Rocket as an AP, if you want to connect legacy products to it, you canno use AirMax and lose all benefits of the N protocol.
Thanks,

Mike

So basically what u guys are saying is that rocket is best used as a PtP nt a PtMP device is it?

The only shortcoming of the Bullet M and Rocket M family is that the 2.4 GHz models can are limited to a 6 and 7 dBi omni antenna.

Of course it will limit the Bullet M2's use as an AP. On the other hand, the Rocket M2 is approved for use with a 15 dBi sector antenna. So that means if you want omni coverage, you'll have to use three Rockets with three 120º sector antennas (or four Rockets and four 90º antennas).

Keep in mind, you can't effectively use the any Rocket with a VPOL omni, but you can with a dual polarity sector antenna.
