View Full Version : Update on WDS versus non-WDS
As I posted in another thread that we saw decreased performance using WDS...
As I suspected, it was a snapshot aberration. I've had it set for WDS all morning and it looks stable. My TX/RX rates are similar to what I've be seeing in the past with non-WDS.

WHT,
The last couple of days I tested all my links 19mile, 11mile link.
I read the post and try with the first one 11 mile and I get like 4-8Mbps more in each direction of with WDS turn off.
I don't have any issue with turn off I am doing routing and both are connected to a Mikrotik Interface. But for those that need full bridge will be and issue.
Thanks WHT.

Well my OSPF sessions does't go up after I turn off the WDS strange it's supose to pass one mac, that it's the MAC Address of the router at the end of that Bullet M5.
Working on it...

Hey guys,
Anything you think is strange, email me at mike@ubnt.com with your support info files and the possible bugs. If it is a bug we will fix it asap.
Thanks,
Mike
There is definitely a bug with WDS. It either never starts passing traffic, or stops after a few hours. Mike, I'll email you the config.
I had WDS running since this morning. At the moment it took at least a minute after clicking on a link for the page to start even loading, then it popped right up fully loaded.
Took WDS off on the backhaul, and all is good. Will send Mike more info later.
Mike, what is the designers view where WDS should or should not impact performance on the M series ?
So far it seems there are two issues not fully reproducible but happened more than once:
1 - Performance decrease
2 - Stability problems
#2 is likely to be a "birth pains" issue, but #1 can (or not) be technology related.

this is going to be a SERIOUS issue for those of us using these for backhauls.

Yeap that it's right. But man it's the first revision of the software with our output fill fix that.
For me the actual issue it's with the full bridge in WDS less performence and less stability.

It's a product only a week old, but since its being pitched to the WISP backhaul market, the WDS capability is crucial. Let us know how this develops......

Hey Guys,
Anytime you experience these stability problems please email your support info and configuration files directly to me so I can have my software guys look into it.
Thanks,

Less performance and less stability you see in PtP scenario or in PtMP? What throughput difference is between WDS link and non-WDS link? Performance decrease is using AirMAX or without it? What channel width and what signal levels?
I hope that with all you help we will be able to solve these performance and stability issues as soon as possible.
Thanks!

I will build all the info to send to you tonight!
Thanks for the support!
UBNT-Edmundas...
Let me install the latest firmware and try again on my 22 mile link. I posted the results and cfg files for Mike, but i don't know what thread.
