View Full Version : spanning tree bullet m5

Hi,
When running firmware XM.v5.0, with no auto ip aliasing, no encryption on 2 links of bullet M5 connected to cisco switches at each end it is forming loops.
I have tried it with the spanning tree option enabled on the bullets and without also with the cisco switch ports set as trunks or just access ports.
It appears that the bullets are somehow filtering bpdu's from the ciscos as it should still undergo negotiation even with spanning tree disabled on the bullets.
If you try to replicate this in the lab leave the devices pinging for a couple of minutes and you will see the loop occurring.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Cheers,

are you using AP WDS and Station WDS on each side?

hmmm... WDS mode is supposed to be a fully transparent bridge so it should not be blocking anything.
On this subject I'm out of ideas already. :( Not really my thing these redundancy protocols.

Hi,
Do you have your setup like these:
1. AP WDS ---> Station WDS
2. Network Seeting --- STP ON on both Bullet m5
I have basically some setup pretty much the same with Mikrotik and are working.
=)
Let me know.

Hi Mike,
I have sent that information to the support email.
Hi Osnet,
yup that is basically the configuration i am using, and the same config worked fine on our bullet 5's.
The old bullet 5's did have some problems with spanning tree on the original firmware however, but work fine on the more recent versions.

Hi,
Recently we found some issues with the WDS in the M5. Maybe the issue it's related. Not the STP....

Hi Osnet,
I had a look at your post i think it would have to be something like that as well. Its weird that it would form loops like that through so many devices 4xbullets + 2xswitches that are performing spanning tree.
Haven't had any update on why this might be happening however, or any response at all from ubiquity in a week.
Anyone from ubiquity want to fill me in on how this is progressing?
Cheers,

Hi,
Just updated to the beta firmware and tested under the same environment and the problem appears to be fixed.
Well done and Thanks!
