Hi!

What are the benefits of using TDMA protocol? The nanostation M is compatible with other equipment Mimo already on the market? Eg Mikrotik.

Thanks,
Vagner.

AirMax works ONLY with other Ubiquiti AirMax products. Period.

The actual bullet m if you turn off airmax and use only one chain in the other product will be compatible, but for do that it's better use airmax and take advantage of it.

Hello,

All of our N protocol devices are compatibile with other draft N device. However if you use AirMax it will lock it down to our devices that use AirMax.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, Can you enlighten me a little? When you say turn on Airmax, does that mean it is a toggle setting in the GUI? Is Airmax the TDMA portion? If so, does that mean that it will no longer listen to the "stop" and "wait" commands from other draft N or 802.11 gear?

Sorry, this is probably a question for another area, but I wanted to ask it while I am posting. If we want to sell services in the 2 Mbit area, what kind of CPE connections can we expect to support from Airmax base station? I know in another area you said that 300 is the max, but at ISDN type of service speeds. Is 100 CPE connections acceptable for a 2 Mbit service level?

I understand several factors are in play, distance, noise levels etc.

Thanks,
Dustin

Hey Dustin,

Yes AirMax is the TDMA/Polling aspect of the software/hardware. This can be shut off. The backoff rules of the 802.11 protocol still apply to a certain extent (only from outside sources - inside the Ap/Client network they all have different time slots so they avoid collisions and hidden nodes all together.)

You will be limited to at most, ~160Mbps TCP/IP rates aggregate at the AP. So how many subs, and how many subs you oversubscribe at the AP is up to you.

You do point out distance, noise levels ect, as these can all affecet the overall aggregate throughput per AP.

With 4 Rockets at the tower with 90Degree sectors, you have the possibility of having a tower with ~600Mbps TCP/IP aggregate. Each Ap can be loaded up with upwards of 100 user's.

Thanks,

Mike
