I m testing two Bullet M5 over a 4.5 Miles (about 7km) link.

The setup:

- 2 x Bullet M5
- 2 x panel antenna 23 dBi
- AP/WDS-Station/WDS
- Channel/Frequency: 166 / 5830 MHz
- Channel Width: 20 MHz
- ACK/Distance: 73 / 4.8 miles ( 7.7 km), auto.
- TX Power: 12 dBm
- Firmware Version: XM.v5.0
- Signal Strength: 73/73 dBm
- Noise Floor: 96 dBm
- Transmit CCQ: 100 %
- TX/RX Rate: 65.0 Mbps / 65.0 Mbps
- AirMax: Disabled

AirOS Internal speedtest:

60 sec test time, simplex
RX: 19.97 Mbps
TX: 18.62 Mbps

60 sec test time, duplex
RX: 10.29 Mbps
TX: 10.31 Mbps

I will perfome better test with external tool next week (now I missed switch to connect Bullet to MT devices... :( )

note: the sites are very congestioned and the perfomances are very poor using UE channel ranges... I need to use other country (USA...).
By comparison, on same link a RB433AH+WLM54AG, same TX Power, same antennas, reach about 25-30 MBits TCP traffic (BTEST).

Any suggestion to optimize the configuration to increase the throughput?

update:
AirOS Internal speedtest:

60 sec test time, simplex, 40MHz
RX: 29.13 Mbps
TX: 25.92 Mbps

update:
AirOS Internal speedtest:

60 sec test time, simplex, 20MHz, 20 dBm TX Power
RX: 20.48 Mbps
TX: 20.40 Mbps

Is the RB configuration using 20 MHz or Turbo 40 MHz ?

20 MHz, Nstream enabled, WDS, no other setting...

Hey Skyhook,

Just for this test can you pump the TX power to 20dBm? Also can you try with and without Airmax along with turning WDS on and off?

Thanks,

Mike

P.S. Please post both sides configuration files.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, but remeber... at 12 dBm is already out of law... 20 dBm more out of law ;)
Ok, will post test results a 20 dBm and cfg files... wait...
Enabling AirMax the result are very poor (about 4 MBits...) :(

Try direct link.... /speedtest.cgi.

As I wrote above, I wait to perform test by external tool.

Mike,
you can access devices (remember past email with URLs).

Have you a testing firmware to upload?

My speedtest was taken off the pull down as it was too flaky. I suspect the developers "disabled" it by removing it from the pull down, but left the cgi in place.

Mike, can you confirm this?

Yes, removed from menu but accessible by direct link ;) for bad boys...

Yes the internal speedtest is highly innaccurate.

Hey Skyhook,

What is the throughput with multiple streams passing in both directions at the same time?

Thanks,

hi,

also what MT device are you using, some of the Routerboards will run out of steam using the built in bandwidth tester.. i got the asymetric response and i was using an Rb433 and an RB433AH so even the 300 mhz mips doesnt have the poke to fill the M5 via ethernet using built in speed test.

the 433AH seems to manage.. but is still at ~95% CPU when doing it..
