Nice article. I probably won't have a chance to use it. But was interested enough to read it. I have done similar thing for mobile (marine) but with router gear that does that fail over thing out of the box. It does add an additional router box to the mix though. Yours was nice to do it all in one router box.
I would think a $150 out of the box solution would be easier. I've used both the D-Link CDMA and GSM versions.

And Kyocera (aka Dlink), and Topglobal, and Junxion Box, and now Cradlepoint for which I am a reseller. And Ericsson W25 and W35.
But sometimes it's worth extra hardware and / or software hacking if you're doing your own product or project, once it's all figured out you can crank out as many as you need.
Which is why I tackled the Ubiquity SDK so hard... to figure out how to customize for my configuration. One thing that you (normally) just can't do is beat gear that tends to hiccup (hiccough) on occassion and go back to factory default. I just beat that monster thanks to the SDK from Ubiquity. Nothing's nicer than to have gear "default" right back where you want it to be. Up and running and smelling like a rose.

I have the same idea with you. Great! Thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear you're using this: I plan to keep it much more aggressively up-to-date than has been the case in the past, but don't hesitate to let me know if you find errors or need clarifications.
