Hi Folks,
Seems the Australian distributors are charging a premium for the Ubiquiti gear and I was wondering if anyone might be interested in helping me arrange some gear direct from the US.
We are looking at 3x NanoStation5 and 6x Bullet5(hp?)
If anyone is interested and can help me out with a price closer to those mentioned on the ubnt website, feel free to drop an email to: zach.fleming @ tekace.com.au
Cheers for your help =)

What are they asking for in Australia?
U.S. prices may be cheaper, but then you have the U.S. to Australia shipping charges.

AU$289 for NS5 (W/O POE Injector, +AU$40)
AU$181 for Bullet5 (w/ POE injector)
Im just looking to see if US pricing warrants me getting them from USA or Aus distributors.
If I can prove the concept, we will look into distributing the equipment ourselves.
Cheers
Zach.

Cheers Sam!
I've sent them an email. Their pricing seems a LOT more realistic compared to the AU pricing.
Hopefully, I can get some gear and get testing!
AU$289 for NS5 (W/O POE Injector, +AU$40) Holy Sheeee-IT, Batman!
Converting $289 AU$ to U.S.$, that $231, right?
So someone is adding $58 to the bill, and on top of that, $32 U.S. equivalent shipping!
I'd find out from a U.S. distributor how much they will ship a $89 U.S.$ Nano to you.

Holy Sheeee-IT, Batman!
My thoughts exactly.
Looks like Dale @ gowifi.co.nz might be my best bet.
If anyone else thinks they might be able to lend a hand, let me know =)
Cheers for the assistance, and keep up the good work. (it's rare to find forums where newbie questions are answered in such a timly, friendly fashion!)

haha happy to help.
Sam
FYI, I have recently purchased three Ubnt radios from Australian suppliers and none of them came with Australian C-Tick compliance labels.
AFAIK that would be the only reason to buy in country and since none of the radios were labeled I see no reason why you shouldn't look for the most competitive price from the global market.
I agree that gowifi.co.nz look good!

I realised that all Australian dealers charge big premium on Ubiquiti products. I was looking out for NS5. Importing two units including FedEx was cheaper than Aussie prices.
Dale [Go Wifi NZ] is a great source of ubiquiti supplies. Very prompt communication. helpful and cheap Shipping. You can request him to send via NZ post to lower shipping further.
Dale has also had several installation experience so if you do get into a problem with your installation call or email Dale.
That was my personal experience.

Probably Aussie dealers want to cut all ducks laying Golden Eggs.
*Why doesnt Ubiquiti organise a Global shipping Plan with low cost shipping?

does dale provide these with poe A-ticked? and other compliant test symbols. If not you're in for a quite surprise if ur gona plan to deploy these in a commercial setting.
Warranty is also an issue when purchasing it o'seas. Shipping costs an arm and a leg!
wanna buy two pico2hp units? I don't have anymore time to waste experimenting and waiting for firmware releases to satisfactorily declare them good enough for our standards. ruckus wins this round for our current pending project. (perhaps future more stable firmware for ubiquiti will see thru as an alternative solution for us)
If you don't have a prob with radio taking some time to appear, the sensitivity and range of these units are simply outstanding. Going thru a heck of a lot of walls (including concrete) indoors, end to end of a house.. I was able to stream online radio for several hours without a hiccup.
As i said u need to source a compliant POE with A-tick to be able to put these in a commercial setting. PM if ur interested in the units i have.

Australian buyers may be interested that as of Jan 2010 we at Freenet Antennas (http://www.freenet-antennas.com) will have good stock of UBNT gear, and we have a policy of not gouging customers. We will be C-Ticking the gear, providing Australian warranty, and Australian power supplies. Final pricing is not known yet as it depends on the exchange rate at the time of shipping (late Dec).
When comparing US vs AU prices keep in mind these extra costs built into AU prices:
- 10% tax (GST) - which AU companies get refunded from the tax office.
- Freight
- Cost of local warranty

Hey Rob
There's no need to replace the power supplies;
they're the same world-wide. The only difference
is the cable and plug, and those are standard
IEC at the supply. You can buy them easily for
cheap money.
You can't specify AU power supplies? Dave

Nope!
I stand corrected on the PSUs - thanks

That's kinda annoying. But the cables
should be easy to find; use C5 plugs
for the power supply end:

...and AU 10A 3wire with earthing pin
for the receptacle end. Dave
