G'Day folks!
Thought I would drop past and introduce myself. (Hence the post in the 'introductions' forum)
My name is Zach and I'm form a small country city in Australia that goes by the name of Mildura.
I am currently investigating the deployment of a medium/large scale mesh across my city to provide vpn, voip, data hosting, game and IM gateway services to all and sundry.
The focus will be on the community network and less on providing internet access. If things take off though, we can see about adding that later.
Initial thoughts include using RouterStationPro boards with clients connecting via a 2.4ghz card (or wired ethernet) and the mesh working on either 5.8ghz or 900mhz (which is licenced here in Australia)
I'd be incredibly greatful to hear any success or failure stories of those of you out there that might have attempted something like this in the past, as I find experience to be the best teacher.
Hope to see you all around the traps some time!
Cheers
