Hey Guys,

Today I have launched our Knowledge base:

http://kb.ubnt.com

There are a limited number of articles in it, such s Frequency Conversion chart, Nano Q and A among other things. I will be adding the most commonly asked questions into articles over the coming weeks.

However as always, since I am a one man show, I could use help with article ideas.

The articles must be short and simple as all of the really long/drawn out stuff will be put in the Wiki.

If you see anything in the forum that you think is a common question that I have missed (doesnt have to be specifically about UBNT, but can be about WISP's in general) please post here!

Thanks,

Mike

Depends on the device on the other end. A 200mw AP radio and a 12dBi omni antenna is what I am familiar with. A 200mw radio with a 19dBi panel antenna is good for 10 miles. Same AP radio and a laptop with good line of site 1000ft.

Hello knowledge face, I mean base... :-) What's the difference in the SDK firmware files that are created - between:

XS2.ar2316.v3.4.SDK.091001.1502-8M.bin and XS2.ar2316.v3.4.SDK.091001.1502.bin ?

The SDK readme doesn't tell me which one to use. A Linux "diff" on those two files tells these binary files differ! An educated guess of mine is 8M means 8M of Flash? So that goes only in product that has 8M flash?

I bought 2 more LS2's and 1 Bullet2 - and would like to be sure that I put the correct firmware into them. I certaily don't want to BRICK my hardware. :-)

If there's a nice WiKi or Knowledge Base article about this ... a pointer would be sufficient and appreciated. Thanks in advanced. Have nice wireless day!!!! :-)

* Found it myself, and I was quite a bit correct. See:

http://selfservice.talisma.com/al/860/319/article.aspx?aid=9338&tab=browse&bt=4&r=0.9992453

* 8M firmwares (8M is a suffix in Naming Convention) are not for Ubiquity hardware with 4Megabyte Flash, such as my Bullet2 and my LightStation2's. It took a little bit of playing around with the Knowledge Base pages and drilling down a little within them... and I found that by accident. But I was happy to confirm my educated guess.

AirOS Firmware Naming Convention

The following breakdown shows you the meaning of the specific sections in the AirOS Firmware name:

* PowerStation
* LiteStation
* NanoStation
* MiniStation
* WispStation
* NanoStation Loco
* PicoStation
* Bullet
* AP1000

[product][frequency].[chipset].v[version].[date].[buid][suffix].bin

any problems being reported on your 3ghz radios? i have had 2 failures in two different links. The radios are applied to a mikro tech board and both quit communicating inside of a week of deployment. I want to send them in and see if maybe you can tell me what went wrong with them and if so where do i send them? jtoney@omega1w.net
