riskable

I don't have a Routerstation to play with (yet--preordered RS Pro) so I'm wondering if it would be OK for me to submit my (extremely) rough draft firmware image as an x86 image (that can be booted up via qemu). I can "make menuconfig" and change "Target System" to ar71xx but I have no way of testing the resulting images.
I'd hate to be skipped over because of some trivial bug or missing configuration option in my ar71xx image.
Note: What I'm developing is a platform-agnostic web administration tool in Python that can be installed via an opkg. Can I just submit an opkg as my rough draft entry? It will have dependencies but it shouldn't be anything "opkg install" can't settle on its own.
